The Investments section

All calculations, goals, and metrics in Threshold are for educational purposes only and should not be taken as investment or financial advice.

The Investments section adds one holdings card to a canvas. It shows each account's balance and the positions inside your brokerage and retirement accounts. On the canvas it shows your top holding and your total invested value; tap it to open the full Holdings view.

What it pulls in

The Investments section reads the security-level positions that Plaid reports for your connected investment accounts. For each holding it can show the ticker and security name, how many shares or units you hold, the current market value, and the gain or loss in both dollars and percent.

It reflects connected brokerage accounts only. A manual account contributes its balance to your totals elsewhere, but it has no security-level positions, so it never appears in the Holdings list. To Holdings require an account linked through Plaid. See Connected Accounts (Plaid) for what syncs and how.

Adding the section

  1. Open the canvas you want it on, and make sure at least one connected investment or brokerage account lives on that canvas.
  2. Switch to Build, tap +, then choose Investments.

If the canvas has no connected investment account, the Investments option reads Connect a brokerage to enable and stays greyed out. Connect a brokerage first, then come back and add it. Each canvas can have one Investments section. After you add it, the menu showsAlready on canvas.

The Holdings view is canvas-scoped

The section does not include every brokerage account in your profile. It pulls holdings from the connected investment accounts that live on this specific canvas. If you keep your retirement accounts on one canvas and your taxable brokerage on another, each Investments section reflects only the accounts on that canvas. Add or remove an account from a canvas and the Holdings view changes to match.

Reading the Holdings sheet

Tap the Investments card to open the Holdings sheet. At the top you'll see how many positions are showing, their combined value, and how recently the data was refreshed. Below that, each position is a row with:

  • The security name or ticker, and a Cash or Short badge where it applies
  • Shares held and which account (or how many accounts) hold it
  • Current market value
  • Gain or loss in dollars and percent, for non-cash positions

Rows are sorted by value, largest first. If you hold the same security in more than one account, the default All view combines it into a single row labelled across N accounts.

Filtering by brokerage

When the canvas has more than one connected investment account, a row of account chips appears above the list. Tap a brokerage to narrow the view to just that account's positions; the count and total update to match. Tap All to go back to the combined view across every connected account on the canvas.

Drilling into a position

Tap any holding to open its detail page inside the same sheet. There you'll find a per-account breakdown of how much of that security sits in each account. An Activity feed of the buys, sells, and other transactions your brokerage has reported for it, each with a date and, where available, the shares and price. Cash positions skip the activity feed. Use the back arrow to return to the full list.

About the numbers

Values, gains, and losses come from your brokerage through Plaid, so they reflect the most recent prices your institution has shared. They are not live market prices. Treat them as a snapshot, not a real-time trading screen.

Removing the section

To take it off a canvas, open the Holdings sheet, tap the menu (⋯) in the top corner, and choose Remove from Canvas. This removes only the Investments section. Your connected accounts and holdings stay intact, and you can add the section again later.
