Welcome to Threshold
Last updated: August 13, 2026
All calculations, goals, and metrics in Threshold are for educational purposes only and should not be taken as investment or financial advice.
Threshold organizes your finances in a vertically scrolling stack of financial sections, including accounts, groups, goals, calculations, categories, transactions, and investments.
Start with the Essentials template
When you connect your accounts, Threshold sets up your first canvas with the Essentials template. It includes:
- Net Worth: a calculation that totals your assets minus your liabilities.
- Transactions: a section where your spending and income flow in.
- Categories & budgets: a place to organize spending and set monthly limits. See Categories and budgets.
- Investments: a view of your holdings. See The Investments section.
- Three draft goals: Retirement, Emergency Fund, and Debt Paydown, started for you as drafts. Each one waits for you to finish its setup, so you only configure the goals that matter to you.
You can reorder sections, rename items, remove what you do not need, and add your own. When you create another canvas, choose either“Use Essentials Template” or “Start from scratch.”
Connecting an account
Threshold is a paid app, and connecting a bank account requires an active subscription. New subscribers receive a 14-day free trial. For the full walkthrough, see Connecting your first bank account and Plans and pricing.
Finding your way around the canvas
A few things to know before you start:
- The canvas is one vertical stack. Swipe up or down to move through its sections.
- Build mode is where you create and edit. Switch to Build, then tap + and choose the item you want. Theundo button appears next to +.
- Settings is the gear icon in the top-right corner of the canvas.
- Tap any card to open its detail sheet and see everything about it.
- In Build mode, hold a section handle and drag it up or down to reorder that whole section.
- View and Build modes are a text toggle at the bottom-center of the canvas. Switch to Build when you want to add, reorder, or edit; switch to View for a clean reading experience. Both modes keep the same content and order.
Threshold automatically saves section order, goals, groups, and other canvas changes.
What Threshold is not
Threshold reads balances and transactions. It cannot move money between accounts or make financial decisions for you.
