Welcome to Threshold. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are between you and Threshold Money LLC (“Threshold,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account or using our mobile application (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Threshold, you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App. Section 13 explains how changes to these Terms are communicated.

2. Description of Service

Threshold is a personal finance application that lets you build your own financial operating system on a flexible canvas. The App allows you to:

4. Financial Data and Third-Party Services

Threshold uses Plaid Inc. to connect to your financial institutions. By linking a bank account, you:

We do not have access to your bank login credentials — these are handled securely by Plaid. Our connection to your financial institution is read-only, as explained in Section 5.

You may disconnect any linked account at any time through the App. When you disconnect, we stop retrieving new data and permanently delete that institution's synced accounts and transaction history from Threshold. If cleanup needs to be retried, removal may take additional time after the bank connection has been revoked. Historical calculation results derived from that bank's data may remain in your Threshold account. Disconnecting a bank is different from deleting your Threshold account; see Section 12 for account deletion.

Connecting Your Own AI Tools (MCP). Threshold supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which lets you connect your own AI assistant (such as Claude or ChatGPT) to your Threshold data. This connection is optional and off by default. The authorization screen shows the permissions you grant. Depending on those permissions, a connected tool can read information and create, modify, or delete supported items within Threshold, such as goals, groups, calculations, canvas elements, and manual accounts, at your direction. It cannot move money or transact at your bank. Review the permissions and any changes you ask the tool to make.

The external AI tool is operated by its provider under your agreement with that provider. We do not control its responses, availability, or handling of information it receives. These Terms and our Privacy Policy continue to govern Threshold's own service and handling of your information.

You can disconnect Threshold in the external tool's settings, or contact privacy@thresholdmoney.app to request revocation directly with Threshold. Revocation prevents future access through that authorization, but does not erase data already received by the provider. Deleting your Threshold account also removes its connected-tool authorizations.

5. What Threshold Is

Threshold is a personal-finance software tool. It helps you view and organize financial information retrieved from your financial institutions through Plaid on a read-only basis — Threshold cannot move money, initiate transactions, or take any action on your bank accounts.

6. Not Financial Advice

Nothing in Threshold — including responses from AI tools you connect, calculations, goal projections, balance summaries, or any other feature — constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. We provide math, not recommendations.

Threshold helps you see and organize your financial data. It does not tell you what to do with your money. Any decisions you make based on information displayed in the App are your sole responsibility. If you need financial advice, consult a licensed financial professional.

The Threshold App, including its design, code, features, content, and branding, is owned by Threshold Money LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works based on any part of the App without our prior written permission.

Your financial data remains yours. We claim no ownership of the data you bring into the App through Plaid or enter manually.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Threshold is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Financial data accuracy depends on your financial institutions and Plaid. Balances and transactions may be delayed or temporarily unavailable.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Threshold Money LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, revenue, data, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the App.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty dollars ($50), whichever is greater.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, limits liability, or waives consumer rights that cannot be excluded, limited, or waived under applicable law.

11. Subscriptions and Billing

Threshold offers paid subscriptions. The price, currency, billing period, and any trial or promotional offer are shown before you confirm your purchase. Free trials and promotional offers are available only to eligible subscribers under the offer terms and Apple's eligibility rules. Creating a new Threshold account does not guarantee eligibility for another trial.

Unless you cancel, a free trial converts to a paid subscription at the price disclosed before purchase. A promotional subscription renews at the disclosed renewal price when its promotional period ends. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period until canceled. Any price changes are subject to applicable law and Apple's subscription rules.

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple — not Threshold — handles billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. To avoid a renewal charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or current period ends. Threshold does not process App Store payments or issue refunds directly. You can request a refund through Apple; refunds are subject to Apple's review and applicable law.

12. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the App or by contacting support@thresholdmoney.app. Upon deletion:

Section 7 of our Privacy Policy explains records retained separately and backup handling. These are not an account-recovery mechanism.

Deleting your Threshold account does not cancel an App Store subscription. To stop future renewals, cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion, with or without notice.

13. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Terms in the App, updating the “Last updated” date, and — for significant changes — sending a notification via email. The notice will explain when the changes take effect. Subject to applicable law, continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms. Where applicable law requires additional notice or agreement, we will provide or request it before the changes apply.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising out of these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

This does not limit any mandatory consumer protections or rights to bring a claim in another jurisdiction that apply under the law where you live.
