Terms of Service
Last updated: June 29, 2026
Welcome to Threshold Money LLC (“Threshold,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). By creating an account or using our mobile application (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). Please read them carefully.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Threshold, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. Your continued use of Threshold after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
2. Description of Service
Threshold is a personal finance application that lets you build your own financial operating system on a blank canvas. The App allows you to:
- Connect and view your financial accounts in one place via Plaid
- Organize your finances on a visual canvas with drag-and-drop
- Create financial goals and track progress toward them
- Group accounts and goals into custom containers
- Build calculations that answer questions about your money
- Connect your own AI assistant to your data using the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Threshold is an informational tool only. It does not provide financial advice, investment recommendations, or tax guidance. See Sections 6 and 7 for more detail.
3. Account Registration
To use Threshold, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Do not share your login credentials with anyone.
4. Financial Data and Third-Party Services
Threshold uses Plaid Inc. to connect to your financial institutions. By linking a bank account, you:
- Authorize Plaid to retrieve your account information, balances, and transactions on your behalf
- Agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy
- Acknowledge that the accuracy of financial data depends on information provided by your financial institutions and Plaid
We do not have access to your bank login credentials — these are handled securely by Plaid. We cannot initiate transactions, move money, or take any action on your bank accounts.
You may disconnect any linked account at any time through the App. When you disconnect, we stop retrieving new data and permanently delete that institution's synced accounts and transaction history from Threshold.
Connecting Your Own AI Tools (MCP).Threshold supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which lets you connect your own AI assistant (such as Claude or ChatGPT) to your Threshold data. This connection is optional and off by default. When you connect an AI tool through MCP, you authorize Threshold to share the data you approve with that tool at your direction. Any AI tool you connect is operated by a third party and governed by your agreement with that provider — not by these Terms. Threshold is not responsible for the output, accuracy, availability, or data practices of third-party AI tools you choose to connect. You may revoke a connected tool's access at any time by disconnecting it within that AI tool, or by deleting your Threshold account.
5. What Threshold Is
Threshold is a personal-finance software tool. It helps you view and organize financial information retrieved from your financial institutions through Plaid on a read-only basis — Threshold cannot move money, initiate transactions, or take any action on your bank accounts.
6. Not Financial Advice
Nothing in Threshold — including responses from AI tools you connect, calculations, goal projections, balance summaries, or any other feature — constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. We provide math, not recommendations.
Threshold helps you see and organize your financial data. It does not tell you what to do with your money. Any decisions you make based on information displayed in the App are your sole responsibility. If you need financial advice, consult a licensed financial professional.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Threshold for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the App or its infrastructure
- Share your account credentials with others
- Use automated systems, bots, or scrapers to access the App without our written permission
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
- Use the App to facilitate fraud, money laundering, or any other illegal activity
8. Intellectual Property
The Threshold App, including its design, code, features, content, and branding, is owned by Threshold Money LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works based on any part of the App without our prior written permission.
Your financial data remains yours. We claim no ownership of the data you bring into the App through Plaid or enter manually.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
Threshold is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that:
- The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times
- Financial data displayed will be completely accurate, current, or complete
- Responses from AI tools you connect via MCP will be accurate or appropriate for your situation
- The App will meet your specific requirements
Financial data accuracy depends on your financial institutions and Plaid. Balances and transactions may be delayed or temporarily unavailable.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Threshold Money LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, revenue, data, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the App.
In no event shall our total aggregate liability exceed the amount you have paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty dollars ($50), whichever is greater.
11. Subscriptions and Billing
Threshold is offered as a paid subscription, currently $12.99 per month or $99.99 per year (current pricing, subject to change), with a 14-day free trial for new subscribers. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the trial automatically converts to a paid subscription, and the subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple — not Threshold — handles billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings; to avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or current period ends. Threshold does not process payments or issue refunds directly.
12. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the App or by contacting support@thresholdmoney.app. Upon deletion:
- Your right to use the App ceases immediately
- We will revoke all Plaid access tokens for your linked institutions
- Your data will be retained for 90 days to allow for account recovery, then permanently deleted
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion, with or without notice.
13. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Terms in the App, updating the “Last updated” date, and — for significant changes — sending a notification via email. Your continued use of Threshold after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising out of these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.
